DIVERSIFYING STEM AND ACADEMIA
Making STEM and Academia inclusive and accessible to everyone
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is an essential component to STEM and academia. As a Korean-American adoptee who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, I had found that my underrepresented peers and I faced unique challenges in science and within academia. My goal is to help create an environment within science and academia where all voices are heard and represented and our history and presence in science is redefined.

PROVIDING PERSPECTIVE ACROSS ACADEMIA
I have been involved in workshops and talks in academic spaces that help to provide knowledge on what it means to make academia inclusive and accessible and how to be an ally to underrepresented people.

UWGB SCIENCE STUDY LOUNGE (SSL)
In fall of 2021, UWGB created a study lounge for students in STEM where I was hired as the SSL coordinator. The mission of the SSL is to create an inclusive space for students in STEM to find community and a place to study. As coordinator, I have worked with DEI professionals to define what it means to create an accessible and inclusive space and community for students.
